The Descent from the Cross

The Descent from the Cross

13th Station of the Cross

This artwork combines an original sculpture cast in polyresin, painted in bronze tones, with multi-colored, mosaic cut glass. This mosaic art, besides being the 13th Station of the Cross, is also the 6th Sorrow of Mary’s Seven Sorrows. The sculpture of Mary is holding the body of Jesus; she is so entwined with her Son that it’s hard to tell where one begins and the other ends. This sculpture portrays Mary’s sacrifice united with Christ’s sacrifice for mankind. Surrounding sculpture of Mother and Son is a glowing aura of silver mirror tiles. Behind them is the silhouette of the Cross, the skyline of Jerusalem and the sky radiating a glorious surge of bright white mosaic glass, highlighted with gold and multi-colored mosaic mirror tile fragments, symbolizing the triumph of the Cross. The foreground shows the desert turning green as the Water of Life flows from the Cross of Jesus.

This is a one-of-a-kind, but we can create similar mosaic and sculpture works.
